Margie and Judson Wingard didn’t set out to create a big business. It developed out of their love of plants and their desire to help others enjoy them just as much as they did.

The seed was planted in the late 1960s, when the Wingards began propagating azaleas for their yard. Thanks to their green thumbs, they found themselves with more than they could use, so they set up a roadside stand with a hand-painted sign advertising "azaleas for sale 50 cents." (CLICK HERE)

  • Art in the Garden V

    Psst...pass the word, "The Beatles are coming."  We're borrowing a line from Sid Bernstein, who booked the Beatles into Shea Stadium, for the first "stadium" concert in the United States.  Well, mark your calendars now for our annual community fundraiser for Lexington Interfaith Community Services (www.licssc.org), where we'll have our own Beatles, "The Return (www.thereturnonline.com)," are returning to our garden on Friday evening, October 8th.  The evening starts at 7:00...to see the past year's events, click on "Art In The Garden," on our homepage.  Tickets will go on sale in September...keep an eye out for more details.

  • Hallow-palooza

    Last year's Hallow-palooza was a fun event for the community.  Over 20 different youth groups built scarecrows, which were posted in front of the nursery, and the winning organization received $100 from Wingard's.  Well get ready because we're going to do it again, bigger and better than last year.  Come enjoy the train and complimentary hot dogs and refreshments.

  • Santa Day

    Come enjoy the morning at Wingard's, with complimentary hot cider, cookies, gifts and Mrs. Santa reading your favorite Christmas stories.  While you're here, pick out a beautiful Christmas Tree, Wreath and our new collectible Lake Murray Christmas Ornament.
