Margie and Judson Wingard didn’t set out to create a big business. It developed out of their love of plants and their desire to help others enjoy them just as much as they did.

The seed was planted in the late 1960s, when the Wingards began propagating azaleas for their yard. Thanks to their green thumbs, they found themselves with more than they could use, so they set up a roadside stand with a hand-painted sign advertising "azaleas for sale 50 cents." (CLICK HERE)

Spring At Wingard's

Well, Spring is rapidly approaching as I write and we're in the midst of reordering and restocking, and should be ready to go by March 1.  If you're like us, you're ready for it, after the record setting cold of early January!  Spring is an exciting time, as life begins anew in our landscapes and, like our plants, we also enjoy the warmth and rejuvination.  Be sure to stop in for one or all of the events and classes we have scheduled, beginning with our Spring Kickoff, on Saturday March 20th.  Check out the Events and Classes page of our website for more information.

As you may know, we started out growing Azaleas, which are the first bloomers in the Spring.  Although they only bloom for about two weeks, their showy splendor makes us all take notice.  A George Tabor azalea is featured in our advertising this month, as it is one of the all time favorite blooms that consistently stands the test of time.  George Tabor is one of many different varieties of azaleas that we grow, here at Wingard's.
